Last week Lottie Sue went to visit with Dr. Trainer and she was very pleased with Lottie Sue's neck control (you may not remember, but since the cyst was so large it held her head back in utero and we had to strengthen her neck muscles once she arrived). Dr. Trainer told us that in her opinion, seeing Lottie Sue in person was amazing - she looks nothing like the baby that's in her charts. She said that Lottie isn't presenting any problems that were likely to be present with her due to everything she's been through! She also said that she really feels Lottie Sue is a miracle baby and that we should be "very, very optimistic." She said that she never gets to give families good news and that seeing us on that day was a real pleasure. Um, I cried because that news was so wonderful to hear. We ended the appointment with a big hug. But we're going to go back once a week for a while since Lottie Sue HATES tummy time, they're going to show me different ways to get around that. Dr. Trainer said that all babies (people for that matter) have something they don't like such as being in water, not wanting a certain fabric on their skin, water on their face and etc., but Lottie Sue's disdain of choice is being on her belly. We'll be able to get her used to it by visiting once a week and doing different positions. So anywho, last week Lottie Sue had two awesome doctor visits and Matt and I feel just great about things. We're high on life! Lottie Sue goes to see Dr. Harris next week, he's her neurosurgeon and we hope the appointment goes just as well.
And do you remember before when I was bragging on Lottie Sue sleeping through the night? Well, she's out to make a liar out of me. The past few nights she's been waking up at least twice in the night, sometimes she'll go back to sleep fast but other times she won't go to sleep unless we go in there and put the pacifier back in her mouth. I look for the day she finds that thumb and can self-soothe.
And other big news this weekend - Lottie Sue ate baby food! It was her first time with a spoon and while you can't tell from the photos, most of it did end up in her mouth. We gave her sweet potatoes and at first you could tell she didn't know what to think but it didn't take her long to get used to it.
Yummy yummy in my tummy
With the weather becoming cooler, Matt and I have been walking more. This past weekend we were out and got a call from GranRay, Little Ray and Linda were in town (from Greenville, SC) and they wanted to meet Lottie Sue. They were close so they just drove to the park. Here is a family photo!

And we're heading up to Blowing Rock, North Carolina for a long weekend with the Linkers. I am SOOOO excited. They have a house for the week but invited us up for the weekend. The house is really pimped out and we just can't wait to go hang out with them. They have two daughters, Campbell (she's 3) and Evy (she was born two weeks before Lottie Sue). I will document our trip and I'll post a photo essay for you to enjoy.
I'm still trying to figure out how I want to post the videos we have...that will be a new addition to our site here in a week or so. I know you're excited...
More later...over and out,
Jen

I'm back! Carrie and Kat came over for lunchtime and brought the HORN. Delicious. Matt stopped by as well and made Lottie Sue smile for the camera. Here are a few photos for you to enjoy...
(I had an urge to photshop blush on my face
but thought it would be too time consuming)
