old halloween photos

I'm totally stealing Brad and Patterson's blog post here, thanks for the inspiration! This photo of Brad's Halloween costume cracked me up. He was a redneck last year, and boy does he have it down...

hitting a little too close to home?

And here you'll see the old photos I found - good times! I love Halloween, it's like a costume ball.

elton john (which cracks me up to this day), me as prince and becce as a geisha

um yes, i won "best costume" that night

jonathan as a dork (i.e., too cool to wear a costume) with carrie

matt with the greers

And I can't tell you how many man hours Matt put in to his "Man In Wind" costume...it was inspired by our time in Chicago. It was pretty great. And it was the only thing to survive the fire that took that room down, go figure.

matt won "most creative" that night

And these are from a Halloween party in Chicago that the Chuns threw. It was so much fun and people had awesome costumes.

the chuns (susan and phil) as punky brewster and hulk hogan

And this is us and the Smiths from a few years ago.

OK, I'm off for now and I'm still trying to figure out LS's costume. I had nothing but the best intentions of making one for her but I don't see that happening. Time to get creative. Later!

the game & closing your eyes

Here are a few photos from the game, I only have three on my camera and need to get the others from Carrie. Even though we LOST we still had a good time with our friends. The weather was great, it was so comfortable and lovely!

Here are photos of the kiddies before the game. BB was VERY brave and offered to babysit BOTH of these nuts while we went to the game.

These photos were taken one morning after breakfast. You might have noticed that Lottie Sue's is wearing necklaces in every photo. She is obsessed with wearing them and always has them on. AWLAYS. It is so cute, I can hardly stand it.

Here are some photos of the kids putting blocks back in the bucket. They really enjoyed doing this.

I had to separate them three times on this thing. They both wanted to play with the most boring thing on the table.

Here's Harlan rocking Lottie Sue in her chair. What a helper!

I asked them to either close their eyes or stick out a tongue and these are the shots I got. Harlan's especially cracks me up.

harlan closing his eyes

i asked lottie sue to close her eyes and stick out her tongue - hilarious

And I'll leave you with a few random photos of Lottie Sue. I'd have more photos of Harlan if he didn't move so fast.

MAJOR bed head...

The weather is getting cool here and I LOVE it. It's invigorating.

you too, can be like don draper

Saturday Night Live had two of my favorites things on it this past weekend: Jon Hamm and Coldplay! Matt and I love Don Draper, and Mad Men is our favorite obsession. I think Mr. Hamm did a good job on SNL and it was pretty funny, usually it's a letdown I think. I find myself using the FF button on my DVR a lot. But this skit REALLY cracked me up.

i'm mad for mad men

More Mad Men stuff...the Simpsons do Mad Men! The Simpson Treehouse of Horror Special (airs November 2) reworks the opening montage as an ode to Mad Men. How cool.

you can click on the image to see more frame grabs

I know this post is heavy with Mad Men, but I love the show so much. I love it more than Veronica Mars (ugh, it makes my heart hurt that it's no longer on) and Lost. That's a bold statement but true. And I also have Variety's Q&A with Matthew Weiner, he's the show's creator. OK, I'll stop with it now.

Other pop culture items of interest for your day:
  • You can watch the season premiere of 30 Rock online here. I may wait to watch it, I am so happy it's back. It's hilarious.
  • And while you're at it you can read a long interview with Tina Fey here.
  • And how great is THIS? You can make your own Muppet Puppet with FAO Schwartz. I grew up loving Kermit and Miss Piggy, they still make me laugh.
I have several photos of Harlan and Lottie Sue that I'm going through today. I should have a new post tonight or tomorrow. I also have a few photos from the game but need to steal the others from Carrie. Happy Monday!

happy birthday to shon (!!!), the pumpkin patch & harlan tickles lottie sue (it gets ugly)

First of all - HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO SHON! Whee! I hope you have a WONDERFUL day! We LOVE you!

On Tuesday we drove to Indiana to visit
Huber Farms. We took a tractor ride to explore the pumpkin patch and it was a whole lotta fun. We started out with lunch, Lottie Sue and Harlan made a mess but filled their bellies. I now know that Lottie Sue likes ketchup and pickles. Harlan loves them as well, see below.

lottie sue dippin fries in ketchup, then getting it all over her face

harlan likes to dip the pickle in ketchup, yep - he has no taste buds

this farm is a working farm, here are workers sorting apples

OK, and then we took a tractor ride over to the pumpkin patch. It was fun, and the kiddies liked it.

harlan on the ride over

here i am with lottie sue and puppy

shot harlan was running all over the place

(not so interested in the pumpkins)

she was banging on them like a drum here

this is the best photo i could get, lottie sue
wanted no part of my lap thankyouverymuch

climbing on the pumpkins

what is this thing, i just don't get it

sitting on them (nice smile by the way...stone faced)

harlan basically ran all over the whole time - always in motion

Afterwards we tried to get them on this cow for a cute photo. Harlan DID NOT want to get on, Lottie Sue got on but it didn't last long. Again, no smiles.

moooooooo to you, too

These photos are of Harlan tickling Lottie Sue.

it started out all fun and games...

but turned ugly fast

Everyone is napping and I think I'll take a cue from them. Over and out.
