homegrown, a baby boy bbq shower, marty jumps out of a perfectly fine plane & mrs. c

Hi all! Check out the tomatoes and okra, these came out of Grandma's garden. YUM! The tomatoes have been in lots of meals and Matt made the okra the other night - it was delicious.

grown with luv

So, here I am at week 35 - gulp. I am now on orders to "take it easy." That means I basically have to stay off my feet (with them up) and have Matt be my own personal butler. He is, as always, awesome - but I am pretty bored and feel like a BUM. Oh well, I will have plenty of opportunities to help out once baby boy arrives.

Anywho...Carrie, Patterson, Megan and Shon threw a BBQ Baby Shower for us over the weekend - it was GREAT! The food (um, enough to feed an army) was excellent, the flowers (by Mary Ann) were gorgeous and a great time was had by all. We also came home with a carload of baby gifts. Here are some photos for you to enjoy...

Earlier I mentioned that Marty was going to jump out of a plane - WELL HE DID. What a nut. I stole these photos from his crackbook page.

he made it! he made it!

i think this photo must be marty coming in for his landing

Alrighty, I am about to run out to pick up baby girl from school. This morning she walked into church on her "tippy toes" - just like a balrina. She is too fun, we love her bunches.

PS - I meant to post a photo on this earlier BUT the one I had was not so good. Lottie Sue had MAJOR stink eye and I was waiting on Carrie to post about it. To my disappointment, Lottie Sue had the stink eye in her photo as well. Oh well, can't win them all...

Carrie's mom was in town last month, all the way from Vegas and we had lunch together. Mrs. Conyngham is an avid reader of our blog and it was GREAT meeting her. She had a gift for Miss Thang, thecutestdressyou'veeverseen - a photo is coming. Thank you again Mrs. C!

Alrighty, toodles!

shonnie bear completes her first 5k (yay!) and her first blog post (yay!), intelligent design & other stories

#141, the cutest runner in the whole lot

Shonnie Bear completed her first 5K yesterday - WAY TO GO! She's been training for it hard core and even belongs to a running club (sounds serious). I am so proud of her! She went from running a 14+ minute mile to a 10-minute mile. Yes, she is that good. I may now call her Shonnie Lightning Bear, I'll see if it sticks.

And let me introduce you to the Gilmore's new blog, The Gilmore Report. Add it to your list of cool things to read. I'm so happy they have a blog, I think blogs are just the greatest!

Anywho, I don't have much to post. I do have a few stories below and also a video - please watch it. It's just six minutes long and is pretty cool.

intelligent design

Here are a few stories if you need something to read:
  • The Debt Trap is a great series by the NYTimes that highlights some of the people that are in over their heads due the mortgage issue.
    • And if you didn't hear the NPR story on the mortgage crisis, you may want to take a listen - it explains it all (you can listen to it here or you can download it from iTunes): The Giant Pool of Money
  • A story for any foodies out there: The Weird, Wild and, Ultimately Sublime - a new take on Seoul food (hahaha, I crack myself up).
  • I just finished the book Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, I enjoyed it although some parts kinda drove me nuts. The main character is a 9-year old motormouth named Oskar, and he's pretty awesome. His father died in the 9/11 attacks and he goes out finding clues about his father's death.
i love the cover

I hope everyone had a good weekend, it was hot and sticky here. We went up to the lake and Lottie Sue showed off her new swimming techniques for everyone. She has three classes left and the she graduates!
