an 8K with shirtless specators, p-dub's lunch & U-G-L-Y, they ain't got no alibi

can you believe it? i did my first 8K last week. AND i didn't die! whee! LOTS of shirtless spectators there, it WAS on the pigeon forge strip so that makes total sense.

my race bib

here i am with amy before we left for pigeon forge. we left at 10pm, the race was at midnight.

so happy and full of energy

side note: at the gym one of the television sets is tuned to the food network (not the best channel for a gym but w). the other day hilary and i were on the treadmill next to each other and both were drooling when the woman made a dish named chicken and date pastilla. i wanted to eat it so i printed out the recipe for my in-house chef to prepare. and of course he never disappoints, here is a photo.

pastilla, anyone?

the recipe has A LOT going on and it's really not for you if you are not adventurous. my mistake was eating it before the 8K, it was my dinner and it would have been better for me to eat something light. lesson learned. it's not the best feeling to run 5 miles with a pastilla in your belly. oh yeah, i also ate chocolate chip cookies. again, lesson learned.

earlier that day we had a little lunch for patterson and baby boy #2. i am posting this blog a day days after he was born. i won't post any photos (don't wanna steal thunder) but his name is nicholas reed and he is a healthy baby boy! congrats guys!

here are a few photos of the lunch...

margaret (p-dub's mom), kerri (her sister),
patterson, moi and faith (also preggo)

opening a card and feeling the love

an adorable outfit (notice the look on my face, it was that cute)

the mommy-to-be (again) and me

i think this is ONE of the thousands of items
kerri gave patterson for baby boy
(seriously,
it was a santa claus type of bag full of stuff)

now i have a few random photos taken of the kiddos.

reading books
(rowdy likes to eat books rather than read books)

harlan sent lottie sue balloons, she LOVED them

we went up the lake last weekend and had just a lovely time. lottie sue went out on her very first seadoo ride. she loved it, she kept squealing and yelling "FASTER! FAAAASTER!!!" - a girl after my own heart.

ready for takeoff

out for a ride

lottie sue has a ken doll up at the lake that has been without his right arm for a while. we could not get it in there, no matter how hard we tried. his head also pops off all the time and we couldn't get it on right. he was just a mess.

matt trying to push the arm in, decides tools are needed

lottie sue does love her barbie doll
(she names all of them "lottie sue"
so maybe she just loves herself)

matt pulls out the big guns

YIKES, that would freak me out

thank goodness for modern medicine - ken is finally in one piece
(let us rejoice)

lottie rejoicing

both kids were on the top step and rowdy started a lean that he could not stop, ended up pushing lottie sue into the water. she got so mad at him, a major crying session ensued.

that rowdy, what a jerk
(look at him, he doesn't even care - hmph!)

ok, more randoms...

rowdyman now has one tooth thankyouverymuch

my boys

lottie undressed for dinner

bb has a lot of super lady-like nightgowns and lottie LOVES wearing them. the "naminal print" one is her favorite. she carries about 3 or 4 of them around and changes them out about 20 times per day. here she is with a flower in her hair sporting the naminal print one, it's her fave.

please notice the necklace as well, she picked it out
(i am so proud)

here she is in the flower version

and now back in the naminal print version

and here are a few hipstomatic shots of us fooling around. enjoy.

i love me some b&ws

and now, it's items of interest time. i have recently come upon two lists of the top magazines ever written. how cool is that? it is right up my alley.

so instead of posting the links on the blog i thought i would give out one or two with each post. i'm making it a treat. here's an article from the list to check out: can you say..."hero"? by tom junod - you can thank me later. alrighty, on to the rest of the list.
have a super weekend! we are off to sushi tonight to celebrate tommy's birthday (HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TOMMY!!!) - i am WAY excited. aside from the b&ws i love, i also love me some sushi.
